The Federation of Canadian Artists is a
non-profit self-supporting art society designed to bring laymen,
amateurs and professional artists together for the encouragement,
promotion and enhancement of art. The Federation of Canadian Artists is
dedicated to the promotion and development of the visual fine arts and
the artistic education of its members
The Federation of Canadian Artists evolved from
an Arts Conference held in Kingston, Ontario in 1941. In 1978 the
Federation established a large gallery and workshop in the Gas Town area
of Vancouver as a base from which to promote the objectives of the
Federation. Today there are active chapters in British Columbia and
Alberta The Calgary Chapter was established on October I5, 1981, since
then membership has steadily increased, many of our Calgary members have
already qualified for Associate F.C.A. and Senior F.C.A. status.
The Federation of Canadian Artists is a diverse
organization of artists, of all levels, brought together to promote and
encourage their development through activities such as critiques,
workshops, and juried exhibitions. Individuals are able to grow and
improve their work in an environment that is both challenging and
supportive. Many of our members have distinguished status with other art
organizations, such as The Alberta Society of Artists, Canadian Society
of Painters in Watercolour and the Pastel Society of Canada.
In the Calgary Chapter of the
Federation, membership is open to all that are
interested in the arts and who wish to endorse and
support the aims and purposes of the Federation.
Supporting members may hold office, serve on
committees and
volunteer in areas vital to the continuation of a successful operation.
Active membership applies to artists who wish to participate in the
Federation exhibitions and, in accordance with the objectives of the
organization, includes amateurs through to top professionals.
