As part of our mandate to encourage and support members' artistic development we are establishing a Mentorship Program.  We are motivated by the belief that we all have our own opinions and we can all help each other no matter what level we are at in our artistic journey.

To remove the many obstacles to in-person meeting and critiquing this program will be carried out via email.  To participate you only have to send a digital image of a painting that you would like some feedback on.  Your partners will give you their feedback and in return when they want some feedback you will view their image and comment by email. This plan need only be accessed when needed.

Rules Of The Program

By applying to participate you are agreeing to follow the rules of participation.

  •  Participants must have internet access.

  • All participants will be put in a group of 4 members by the mentorship committee, (changes may be made if the match is not productive but the mentorship committee reserves the right to have the final decision).

  • Participants agree to respond in a timely manner to any images sent (within 3 days)  Note: make sure your digital images are good quality, cropped, and large enough (at least 4" x 6" @ 140 - 240 pixels per inch) to make viewing easy.

  • Send your email to all members in your group.  Feel free to give some idea of the type of feedback that you would like (composition, colour, help with technique, etc).

  • You are encouraged to give honest, but constructive feedback.

  • Participants are required to notify the mentorship committee if they do not wish to continue in the program.

To join the program, complete the attached Mentorship Application. The application is available on the Calgary Chapter website as well.  Email the completed application to Rex Beanland at beanland at telus.net  (substitute @ for at to avoid spam).  Ensure to include "Mentorship Program" in the Subject line.

The Calgary Chapter hopes this program will help all of us grow and continue to improve our artistic abilities.
