SUPPORTING MEMBERSHIP is for anyone interested in the arts, and membership allows you to participate in our monthly chapter meetings and scheduled events. Membership also allows you to participate in FCA workshops and lectures at a discounted fee.
ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP allows artists with consistent and high quality artworks to participate in our juried exhibitions, be eligible for titles, awards and prizes, feature one artwork on our chapter’s website, submit shrink-wrapped art for display at the FCA gallery in Vancouver; and have your website listed on the FCA ‘Member Artists’ site.
To be an Active Member of the Calgary Chapter, you must be an Active Member of our parent FCA organization,
To become an Active Member, you must:
If you are currently a Supporting Member with our chapter, you can upgrade your Supporting Membership to Active at any time in the year, with proof of achieving Active status with our parent/national body.
SIGNATURE MEMBERSHIP gives all the benefits of an ACTIVE membership, and in addition, the artists may add the letters their signature status (AFCA, SFCA) behind their names in order to indicate that they have been recognized for having achieved a high level of excellence in the FCA. Signature members also are involved in juries and help to select active members. Members who have achieved the highest level (SFCA) are eligible to serve on the Board of Governors of our parent/national organization and on the Selection Committee for Signature Status.
Jurying for both levels of Signature Membership (Associate, Senior) is done by the Selection Committee once a year. As of Oct 1st 2021 applicants, who must be current ACTIVE members, now have the option of submitting to the Spring 2022 Signature Status intake (deadline February 25 2022) or the Autumn 2022 Signature Status intake (deadline August 26 2022). Please be sure to circle which intake you are submitting to on the application form.
Before you apply, please review these videos of past year’s successful applicants which are on the national website (artists.ca). This is a good indication of where your work should be before you consider applying.
